Manila: Several regions and provinces in the Philippines are set to experience continued rains due to the ongoing southwest monsoon, as reported by the weather bureau on Tuesday. Scattered rains and thunderstorms will affect Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, Palawan, and Southern Leyte.
According to Philippines News Agency, flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains. The southwest monsoon, locally known as "habagat," will also bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country. Moderate winds and moderate coastal waters are expected across extreme Northern Luzon, while the rest of the archipelago will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
Meanwhile, PAGASA is tracking a tropical cyclone situated 1,925 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as of 3 a.m. The low-pressure area is not anticipated to enter PAR, as stated by PAGASA forecaster Obet Badrina.
