Davao city: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has initiated a recruitment drive aimed at regaining public trust by hiring young engineers. Among the newly hired is Dave Rusty Recososa, a civil engineer and son of Edwin Recososa, a jeepney driver who gained attention for offering free rides in celebration of his son's success in passing the recent Civil Engineering Licensure Exam.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DPWH made this announcement in a news release on Friday. During a visit to Davao City with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon personally met with Dave Rusty Recososa, encouraging him to contribute to the agency's ongoing transformation efforts. Secretary Dizon offered him a position at the DPWH Davao Regional Office, emphasizing the need for new talent to tackle the challenges ahead.
Recososa's hiring is part of the DPWH's efforts to fill approximately 2,000 job vacancies nationwide. The agency also recognized Edwin Recososa for his dedication as a jeepney driver, which played a crucial role in supporting his son's education and eventual graduation.
President Marcos has directed the DPWH to actively recruit recent Civil Engineering graduates to join the agency, aiming to strengthen infrastructure development across the country.
