Meycauayan City: The country's largest steelmaker, SteelAsia Manufacturing Corp., has continued its initiatives for decarbonization by installing solar panels in its plant in Meycauayan City, Bulacan.

According to Philippines News Agency, SteelAsia partnered with TotalEnergies ENEOS to commission 1.9 megawatt-peak (MWp) of solar power in its Meycauayan steel facility. The commissioning was led by SteelAsia president Andre Sy and TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Philippines Project Corp. zone director Ingrid Jaumain.

"With over 3,200 solar modules installed, the system will generate approximately 2,700 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable electricity annually," SteelAsia stated. The initiative is part of a broader decarbonization strategy by SteelAsia, which has been integrating renewable energy sources across its operations.

SteelAsia's manufacturing facilities in Calaca, Batangas and Compostela, Cebu are sourcing their power requirements from geothermal power.
