Tagaytay City Gov’t Grateful for Aero Gymnastics Asian Tourney Hosting

Tagaytay: The Tagaytay City government has expressed its gratitude for being selected as the host for the 10th Aero Gymnastics Asian Championships, an event presented by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). The city sees this as an opportunity to enhance its reputation as a tourist destination, particularly among international visitors, thanks to its world-class facilities.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Brent Tolentino extended his thanks to PSC chairman Patrick Gregorio and Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) president Cynthia Carrion for choosing Tagaytay. He emphasized the significance of sport tourism in promoting the city's state-of-the-art amenities, such as the UCI-certified Tagaytay CT Velodrome and the Tagaytay Combat Center. These facilities are envisioned as venues for both local and international competitions, providing an economic boost to the area.

Mayor Tolentino pointed out that hosting events like the Aero Gymnastics Asian Championships offers substantial benefits, especially during Tagaytay's off-peak tourism months, by supporting local businesses and industries. "This (Asian meet) is a godsend," he remarked, highlighting the positive impact on the community.

PSC Chairman John Patrick Gregorio echoed these sentiments, underscoring the strategic choice of Tagaytay City for the championship. He noted the city's proximity to Metro Manila and its appeal as a tourist haven where visitors can enjoy a serene environment. The event not only showcases Tagaytay's unique atmosphere but also supports the local tourism industry, creating a mutually beneficial situation.

The championships commenced with preliminary rounds in various categories, including individual men and women, groups, mixed pair, trio, aerobic dance, and aerobic steps. These events span across senior, junior, and youth age groups. Some of the finals are scheduled to take place on Thursday, promising an exciting conclusion to the tournament.
