Taguig: Children in Taguig City now have a fresh holiday treat as the city government opened the TLC Playpark over the weekend, giving kids a new, safe space to play and explore during the Christmas season. In a statement on Monday, Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano said the 3,000 square-meter park located along the edge of Laguna Lake is part of their efforts to create free public spaces where families can bond and spend quality time together.
According to Philippines News Agency, the facility is designed for children from ages 3 to 12, featuring world-class play equipment paired with cultural storytelling elements, providing children opportunities for active play while learning about Taguig's Probinsyudad identity. Mayor Cayetano stated that the TLC Playpark showcases seven BaTaguig mascots, introduced as friendly and relatable characters that reflect the values instilled in every Batang Taguige±o.
The mascots-Eli Madasalin, Luli Mapagmahal, Aya Masayahin, Miggy Magalang, Mika Malikhan, Juan Masipag, and Kali Makalikasan-were presented as symbols of the city's commitment to nurturing character, creativity, and positive values among children, reinforcing the park as a space where learning and play come together.
The facility includes a wide range of play structures, such as the Giant Slide, Pirate Ship, Eagle Climber, Play Mantis, Fish Bone Play Equipment, Web Climber, Giraffe Play Equipment, Swing Tree and Sunflower Swing, Bird and Lovers Seesaws, musical play areas with a drum set and xylophone, and Animal Riders, all supported by park amenities. The park operates from Tuesday to Sunday, 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., while remaining closed on Mondays for maintenance. Entry is on a first-come, first-served basis.
"It can accommodate up to 100 children per time slot, with each child required to be accompanied and actively supervised by one adult guardian at all times," Cayetano noted. Play sessions are scheduled hourly and limited to one hour per child, allowing more families to enjoy the facility.
For everyone's safety, sharp or pointed objects and other potentially harmful items are not allowed inside the playpark. Food and drinks are not permitted inside the play area, but designated snack areas and on-site merchants are available.
