Manila: Taiwan is set to provide PHP11 million in humanitarian aid to support the victims of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck northern Cebu on September 30. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Manila announced this assistance as the initial phase of Taiwan's planned support for the Visayas region.
According to Philippines News Agency, the TECO emphasized Taiwan's solidarity with those impacted by the earthquake, expressing thoughts and prayers for the affected individuals. The donation aims to assist families in rebuilding their homes and to accelerate reconstruction efforts. This financial contribution represents the first stage of Taiwan's aid, with further relief materials expected to follow.
TECO Representative Wallace Minn-Gan Chow disclosed the aid during a reception in Taguig City, where he also conveyed condolences to the families of the victims and reaffirmed Taiwan's commitment to aiding recovery operations. The financial assistance will be channeled through the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) to reach the Cebu Provincial Government, as stated by TECO.
