Marikina city: Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro was proclaimed as the 1st District representative of Marikina City on Tuesday afternoon. Based on the Notice to Candidates issued by the Office of the Election Officer in Marikina City, the City Board of Canvassers (CBOC) proclaimed Teodoro as the duly elected lawmaker of the city district in a ceremony at the Marikina Public Market Function Hall.
According to Philippines News Agency, Teodoro topped the May 12 congressional elections with 75,062 votes against Aquilino 'Koko' Pimentel III. The CBOC responsible for the proclamation comprised lawyers Dave Villarosa, Election Officer IV; Laurence Joel Taliping, City Prosecutor; and Dr. Alejandro Iba±ez, School Divisions Superintendent.
On May 12, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc lifted its order suspending the proclamation of Teodoro as congressman-elect. The poll body stated that the petitioners in the electoral case against Teodoro failed to prove any material misrepresentation in his certificate of candidacy regarding his residency. Additionally, it found no evidence that he abandoned his residence in the first district of Marikina.
On June 25, the poll body granted the consolidated motions for reconsideration filed by Teodoro and reversed the December 11, 2024, resolution of its 1st Division, which had ordered the cancellation of his certificate of candidacy.
