Baguio: The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in the Cordillera Administrative Region has announced the availability of 150 scholarship slots for five diploma programs at the Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education (CSITE). This initiative aims to provide full education grants to eligible applicants.
According to Philippines News Agency, TESDA-Cordillera information officer Stephanie Peligman revealed in an interview that the three-year diploma courses available include Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Culinary Arts, Hospitality Supervision, and Civil Engineering Technology. The scholarship offers 25 slots each for Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Hospitality Supervision, and Civil Engineering Technology, while Culinary Arts has 50 slots.
The scholarship program targets out-of-school youth and other qualified individuals seeking tuition-free, government-recognized technical education. Peligman stated that scholars will receive a daily allowance of PHP100, a book allowance of PHP5,000 per semester, free training for the entire three-year duration, and free national competency assessment.
On December 11, CSITE celebrated its first graduation ceremony, with approximately 200 students completing their three-year diploma programs designed to meet industry needs. The graduates included 25 from the Diploma in Culinary Arts, 12 from the Diploma in Hospitality Supervision, 34 from the Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, and 38 from the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
All graduates were part of TESDA's scholarship programs, which offer comprehensive academic and practical training. CSITE Executive Director Daisy Bungallon emphasized the institute's ongoing efforts to produce globally competitive technical and vocational education and training graduates. She highlighted the expanded diploma offerings, stronger industry partnerships, and CSITE's increasing contribution to workforce development in the Cordillera region.
