Legazpi city: The Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA), in collaboration with Junior Chamber International (JCI)-Daraga, has delivered relief goods to families impacted by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name Trami) last week. According to Philippines News Agency, Jonel Magdaraog, a PHILTOA member, stated that relief supplies were distributed to more than 600 families in Libon, Albay, as well as Barangay San Roque and La Purisima in Nabua, Camarines Sur. "The relief packages included groceries, rice, bottled water, adult and children's diapers, medicines, and sanitary items. This assistance was dispatched to Albay immediately following the storm. Together with JCI Daraga, we also provided towels, bedding, and clothing," he said. Magdaraog extended his gratitude to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Bicol, the Philippine Army 31st Infantry Battalion, and the Civil-Military Operations (CMO) for their support during the distribution on Thursday. In a separate interview, Herbie Aguas, D epartment of Tourism (DOT) 5 (Bicol) director, expressed his appreciation for the swift response of the tour operators. "I truly appreciate the effort and support of our tour operators. They are not only dedicated to promoting tourism destinations in the Bicol region but also care deeply for their fellow Bicolanos. Thank you, PHILTOA, for your love for Bicol," Aguas said. Aguas also conveyed optimism that the affected tourism sites in Bicol would gradually recover. "Everything will return to normal, including our tourism destinations," he added. He also noted that eight tourists stranded during the storm have now safely returned to their destinations.
