Manila: The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation's (PAGCOR) revenues for the first nine months of the year have reached PHP79.43 billion, marking a 42 percent increase from the PHP55.95 billion reported year-on-year. Pagcor chair and chief executive officer Alejandro Tengco attributed this growth primarily to the electronic games sector. According to Philippines News Agency, Tengco stated that the electronic games sector alone contributed PHP28.22 billion, accounting for 35.52 percent of the gaming revenue. The licensed casino sector followed, contributing 30.84 percent or PHP24.50 billion from licensee fees. The state gaming agency's net income for the first nine months was recorded at PHP9.63 billion, nearly doubling last year's figure of PHP4.85 billion. Tengco expressed confidence in meeting the PHP100 billion revenue target by yearend, despite the President's decision to ban offshore gaming operations in the country. Of the total revenues, a significant PHP69.88 billion were derived from gaming operations and license fees. Additional related services contributed PHP6.43 billion, while other income streams yielded PHP3.11 billion. Pagcor's contributions to nation-building also saw a substantial increase of 40.39 percent, reaching PHP48.88 billion compared to last year's PHP34.82 billion. Tengco highlighted that PHP33.19 billion of these contributions went to the National Treasury as part of the 50 percent government share. He further elaborated that half of the remittances to the national coffers, amounting to PHP16.59 billion, have been earmarked for PhilHealth to support the Universal Healthcare Law. Pagcor also paid a total of PHP3.49 billion in franchise taxes and PHP421.35 million in corporate income taxes to the Bureau of Internal Revenue. The Philippine Sports Commission received a five percent share, totaling PHP1.65 billion. Additionally, PHP90.68 million was released as incentives for athletes and coaches who excelled in international sports competitions. Socio-civic projects under the Of fice of the President received funding of PHP9.26 billion, courtesy of Pagcor. Cities hosting Casino Filipino branches benefited from PHP525.95 million. The Board of Claims under the Department of Justice was allocated PHP99.08 million to compensate victims of unjust imprisonment. Furthermore, Pagcor earmarked PHP140.20 million for the Renewable Energy Trust Fund.
