Naguilian: The Tourist Rest Area (TRA) in Naguilian, a collaborative project between the Department of Tourism and the local government unit (LGU), has been serving both visitors and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) since its opening in May. The facility is designed to enhance the experience of tourists while providing a platform for local enterprises to showcase their products.

According to Philippines News Agency, April Glo Banayat, an administrative staff member of the Naguilian local government, reported that approximately 1,000 tourists have utilized the TRA's amenities. These facilities include comfort rooms, charging stations, and sitting areas, primarily catering to tourists visiting in groups. In addition to serving tourists, the TRA provides free space for 30 MSMEs to display their products, primarily representing the one-barangay-one-product initiative.

The products on display at the TRA include Bacagan Bamboo handicrafts, Magungunay Labtang baskets, and various food items like soybean flakes, vegetable chips, processed lemon products, and the town's notable Basi, a sugarcane wine. Naguilian's LGU supervising administrative officer, Jeffrey Patacsil, highlighted that Basi production is a significant activity in most of the town's villages, with its processing methods preserved across generations.

Patacsil further noted that the LGU collaborates with local cooperatives to support their production needs and ensure the quality of materials and products. The processing center for Basi was established by the LGU, equipped with machinery provided by the Department of Trade and Industry. Efforts are currently underway to secure the necessary documentation to facilitate the export of Basi, which is in high demand both locally and internationally among citizens abroad.
