Toyota Unveils EV with Record-Breaking Range in Japan

Tokyo: Toyota Motor Corp. has launched a partially remodeled version of its bZ4X electric vehicle featuring a driving range of up to 746 km on a single charge, marking the longest range for an EV in Japan.

According to Philippines News Agency, the range of the new model has increased by approximately 25 percent compared to its predecessor. The sales of this newly enhanced bZ4X commenced on Thursday, with the high-end model priced at 5.5 million yen, which is lower than the previous version before remodeling. This strategic pricing aims to make the advanced vehicle more accessible to consumers.

The bZ4X, which debuted in April 2022, is a key model in Toyota's electric vehicle lineup. The latest enhancements have significantly improved the vehicle's performance by reducing energy loss in the drive unit and drastically shortening charging times. The vehicle now supports fast charging with an output of 150 kilowatts, allowing the battery to go from 10 percent to 80 percent in approximately 28 minutes.

In addition to the vehicle improvements, Toyota has introduced home-use chargers for its EVs and launched a membership charging service known as "TEEMO." This service enables customers to use chargers installed at affiliated dealers, as part of Toyota's efforts to promote the adoption of electric vehicles across Japan.
