Washington: US President-elect Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to BRICS nations, threatening a 100-percent tariff on any country within the bloc that attempts to move away from the US dollar in international trade. According to Philippines News Agency, Trump took to Truth Social to express his concerns over the potential shift, emphasizing that the era of passively watching BRICS nations-comprising Russia, India, China, and South Africa, along with new members Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates-move away from the dollar is over. Trump's statement underscores his demand for these countries to commit to the dollar as their reserve currency and avoid establishing any alternative BRICS currency. "We require a commitment from these Count ries that they will neither create a new BRICS Currency, nor back any other Currency to replace the mighty US Dollar or, they will face 100% Tariffs, and should expect to say goodbye to selling into the wonderful US Economy," he asserted.
