Tutors for DSWD ‘Tara, Basa!’ Program in Siargao Receive Pay

Siargao: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Caraga Region (DSWD-13) announced the completion of cash-for-work payouts for tutors under its Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program on Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte.

According to Philippines News Agency, a total of 106 tutors and 54 youth workers received a collective PHP1,392,000 during payout activities conducted last week. Each participant received a full payout of PHP8,700, calculated at a rate of PHP435 per day for a period of 20 days.

These tutors and youth development workers (YDWs) provided their services to hundreds of students and parents across 37 public elementary schools located in the municipalities of General Luna and Dapa in Siargao. The program's payout underscores its commitment to fair compensation and timely support for youth educators and community workers who are instrumental in advancing literacy, promoting home learning, and encouraging family engagement.

The agency further committed to ongoing support for youth advocates in education and leadership, promising financial assistance at the beginning of the new school year through the program.
