Canlaon City: The local government of Canlaon City in Negros Oriental has successfully turned over infrastructure projects worth more than PHP12 million to Barangay Linothangan and Barangay Bucalan. These developments come despite the challenges posed by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.
According to Philippines News Agency, city information officer-designate Edna Lhou Masicampo explained that the projects had been completed last year, but their official turnover was delayed due to the eruption on December 9. "These projects were at different stages of completion before the eruption," she noted.
Barangay Linothangan was the recipient of 17 projects, totaling PHP6 million. The projects include enhancements to the livestock auction market, installation of solar lighting for the village hall's covered court, construction of waiting sheds and pathways, rehabilitation of the daycare center, establishment of a materials recovery facility, and a water system. Additionally, funds were allocated for enhancements to the basketball court, multipurpose pavement, and canal concreting.
In Barangay Bucalan, nine projects amounting to PHP6.8 million were handed over. These included the construction of waiting sheds, pathways, solar-powered streetlights, road concreting in key areas, and improvements to the covered court. The local government fully funded all these projects.
