Manila: The United Arab Emirates announced that it had successfully foiled cyberattacks targeting the aviation, energy, and education sectors within the country. The UAE Cybersecurity Council, in a statement shared by the official news agency WAM, revealed that national systems had detected and thwarted advanced and organized cyberattacks aimed at these vital sectors.

According to Philippines News Agency, the intrusion attempts were contained before the attackers could achieve their objectives or disrupt the continuity of crucial systems and services. The council noted that the attacks employed multiple methods, including breaching systems and digital infrastructure, targeting accounts and operational data, and conducting phishing campaigns.

The council further explained that these cyberattacks included efforts to exploit users as entry points into the targeted environments. However, cybersecurity teams managed to detect, repel, and track these malicious activities, implementing technical measures to neutralize threats and prevent their spread.

The council did not disclose the identities or origins of the attackers, nor did it specify the timing or duration of the attacks. This announcement comes amid what the UAE describes as a significant increase in cyber threats and attacks on essential sectors since the beginning of 2026.

In a related development, the UAE had previously declared in July that it had foiled cyberattacks on the financial sector using methods such as phishing, exploiting vulnerabilities, and AI-supported malware. Earlier in February, the UAE Cybersecurity Council also reported thwarting cyberattacks on vital sectors involving ransomware, which encrypts data and demands ransom for decryption.
