United Airlines to Introduce New 737 MAX 8 Fleet for Intra-Asia Flights

Manila: United Airlines will replace its entire Guam-based Boeing 737-800 fleet with 10 new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft for intra-Asia flights. The first aircraft is set for delivery in February 2026.

According to Philippines News Agency, United Airlines' director of sales, Asia Micronesia, Kenichi Kiriyama, stated that the investment in new aircraft for intra-Asia routes aims to deliver the premium experience expected by United's customers. This move is part of a broader commitment to enhance the customer experience across the Pacific region.

United Airlines stands out as the only US carrier providing intra-Asia flights, offering daily services from Manila to Guam, twice-weekly services from Manila to Palau, and a daily service from Cebu to Tokyo-Narita, with connections to the United States.

Kiriyama emphasized that for customers with connecting flights to or from the mainland US, these investments will ensure a consistent and seamless experience from check-in to landing. The new aircraft, equipped with 166 seats, will feature USB charge ports and Bluetooth technology for easy connections with wireless headphones and seatback entertainment screens.

Additional features of the aircraft include larger overhead bins, wi-fi, and extra legroom seating. The wi-fi service will be available for purchase, with United planning to implement Starlink across its entire fleet in the coming years.

In addition to its intra-Asia services, United Airlines also offers nonstop trans-Pacific flights to and from the Philippines. The daily service from Manila to San Francisco is set to increase to twice daily starting October 26.
