Ohio: US-based Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH), headquartered in Ohio, is considering a significant investment of up to USD500 million in the Philippines to establish a state-of-the-art tertiary hospital. This initiative is part of the company's plan to enhance its Global Business Services operations within the country.
According to Philippines News Agency, this investment plan was revealed during a meeting between BSMH officials and President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The President led a delegation of trade and security executives on an official visit to the US from July 20-22. John Starcher, president and CEO of Bon Secours Mercy Health, expressed pride in expanding the company's global presence and reinforcing its commitment to the Philippines.
Currently, BSMH has a workforce of approximately 170 employees in the Philippines through its subsidiaries, Nordic and Bon Secours Mercy Health Philippines. These subsidiaries provide essential back-end support to the company's global operations. With the proposed expansion, BSMH aims to increase its domestic workforce to about 1,200 employees.
John Starcher emphasized the company's eagerness to explore the development of advanced healthcare delivery services, promising unique and premium access for Filipinos and BSMH associates. The expansion plan has been positively received by Frederick Go, Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs. Go described the plan as a substantial vote of confidence in the Philippines, offering transformative opportunities for the country's healthcare and services sectors.
Frederick Go assured that the government would collaborate with BSMH to realize their plans, which are expected to create meaningful employment opportunities and deliver world-class facilities, advanced medical equipment, and high-quality healthcare to the Filipino population.
