Van Sickle Headlines PVL Press Corps Awards Night

Manila: Two-time All-Filipino MVP Brooke Van Sickle of Petro Gazz headlines the honorees in the Pilipinas Live Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Press Corps Awards Night at the Novotel Manila. The event celebrates the achievements of the league's outstanding players, coaches, and executives.

According to Philippines News Agency, the awardees include Alas Pilipinas middle blocker Thea Gagate, who was recognized as Rookie of the Year for her contributions to ZUS Coffee's journey to the quarterfinals. League president Ricky Palou expressed the significance of the awards, highlighting the achievements of all players, coaches, and staff members who have elevated the game and inspired a nation.

The PVL Awards Night, which will be streamed live exclusively on the Pilipinas LIVE app, also recognized the Creamline Cool Smashers as Team of the Year, with their mentor, Sherwin Meneses, named Coach of the Year. Rebisco vice chairperson and chief executive officer Jonathan Ng received the honor of Executive of the Year, while Choco Mucho setter Deanna Wong was voted as Fan Favorite.

Additional accolades were given to Eli Soyud of Akari as Most Improved Player, Alyssa Eroa of ZUS Coffee as Comeback Player of the Year, and Chie Saet of Petro Gazz for Ms. Quality Minutes. The match between Choco Mucho and PLDT in the 2024-25 AFC quarterfinals was voted Pilipinas Live Game of the Year, and a Star of the Night will be chosen during the ceremony.

The PVL and its press corps extended their recognition to the Spikers' Turf, where Jude Garcia of Criss Cross was named MVP of the Season and Best Outside Hitter, alongside Savouge's Sherwin Caritativo. The Mythical team featured Best Setter Ish Polvorosa of Criss Cross, Best Middle Blockers Gian Glorioso (Criss Cross) and Giles Torres (Savouge), Cignal's Best Opposite Spiker Steven Rotter, and Best Libero Vince Lorenzo.

PVL Press Corps President Lance Agcaoili of INQUIRER.net reflected on the league's journey from its debut amid the pandemic in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, to its current success with record-breaking attendance and thrilling games, emphasizing the celebration of greatness throughout this transformative period.
