Manila: Mary Jane Veloso's sister, who was reportedly subjected to sexual abuse by her employer in Saudi Arabia, is set to return to the Philippines ahead of schedule. Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac confirmed the news, stating that Veloso's sister is expected to arrive next week. According to Philippines News Agency, the family was previously informed that she would be back before Christmas, but efforts are now underway to expedite her repatriation. "The Migrant Workers Office is now working to facilitate her return as soon as next week," Cacdac mentioned in a statement. Cacdac had visited the Veloso family on November 23, following the Indonesian government's decision to allow Mary Jane to be repatriated to the Philippines. During this visit, Cacdac learned about the distressing situation faced by Mary Jane's sister and assured the family of her immediate return. In light of this development, Veloso's parents have expressed their gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr . and the Philippine government for their ongoing support. Additionally, Cacdac has pledged to offer psychosocial counseling for Veloso's eldest son, Daniel, and provide skills training through the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), along with financial assistance. To further support the family, the DMW has distributed TESDA training vouchers to the Veloso family, ensuring they have access to additional resources and opportunities for growth and development.
