Vietnam Coast Guard Arrives in Cebu City for Joint Exercises with Philippine Counterparts

Cebu city: Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) vessel 'CSB 8002' arrived in Cebu City on Monday for a five-day port visit and joint exercise with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to boost maritime cooperation between the two countries.

According to Philippines News Agency, the visit is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to strengthen regional partnerships. The PCG emphasized that these engagements highlight the shared commitment of both coast guards to enhance maritime security, search and rescue operations, and regional coordination.

During the visit, the 2nd PCG-VCG Bilateral Meeting will be conducted in accordance with the 2024 Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Cooperation between the two nations. The visit is set to feature various people-to-people and capacity-building activities aimed at fostering camaraderie and enhancing interoperability between the PCG and the VCG.

The planned activities include search and rescue tabletop exercises, joint community relations services, visits to PCG facilities, and friendly sporting events that are designed to promote meaningful interaction, mutual understanding, and professional collaboration among personnel of both maritime agencies.

The five-day activity is scheduled to conclude on October 10, 2025.
