Malaca±ang: Malaca±ang on Thursday assured the public that Vice President Sara Duterte's announcement to run for president in 2028 will not affect President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s focus on governance.
According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that the President remains focused on key priorities, which include boosting the economy, improving the lives of Filipinos, and addressing long-standing flooding issues. Castro emphasized that the President's work will not be derailed by the Vice President's political plans. She posed a rhetorical question: "Will the work of the President be derailed just because a vice president announced that she will run?"
Castro reassured that the President's commitment to raising the country's economy, enhancing the lives of every Filipino, and solving the persistent flooding problem remains steadfast. The administration does not perceive the Vice President's declarations as a threat, she added. Castro mentioned that the announcement was anticipated and not shocking, stating that Duterte's campaigning efforts were evident even before the official declaration.
