MANILA: Police Maj. Gen. Bernard Banac, who is currently serving as the director of Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, has been elevated to the rank of lieutenant general within the Philippine National Police (PNP), as announced by Malacañang on Thursday. According to Philippines News Agency, the promotion was officially communicated by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin to Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla on November 4. Banac's distinguished career within the PNP includes leadership roles such as the head of the PNP-Public Information Office, the Police Regional Office 8 in Eastern Visayas, the Directorate for Plans, the Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management, and the Special Action Force. Banac is an alumnus of the Philippine Military Academy, having graduated in 1992. His promotion marks a significant milestone in his career within the police force.
