W. Visayas Police Seize P75.9-M Drugs, Nab 168 in Month-Long Ops

Iloilo: The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) has confiscated PHP75.95 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested 168 suspects in 133 operations from May 22 to June 21. In a press conference Monday, PRO-6 Acting Regional Director Brig. Gen. Randulf Tua±o stated that the largest seizure occurred in Oton, Iloilo, with nearly PHP14 million worth of shabu confiscated from three high-value individuals (HVIs).

According to Philippines News Agency, Tua±o emphasized that the substantial confiscation is a result of intensified anti-drug operations by Police Regional Office 6, rather than an indication of increased drug presence in the community. He pledged that efforts in the anti-illegal drugs campaign would be maintained and further intensified in the coming months.

Tua±o also noted that the regional police force is seeking K-9 assistance from the national headquarters to enhance their monitoring and interdiction efforts. The PRO-6 is collaborating with the provincial government, which is training a K-9 unit for improved monitoring at ports of entry.

Meanwhile, Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. expressed his gratitude to the Philippine National Police for the successful apprehension in Oton. He reiterated the commitment to an aggressive anti-drug campaign in collaboration with law enforcement agencies. Defensor mentioned that the training for K-9 narcotics detection dogs and their handlers is set to conclude this week.
