Manila: Police arrested 60 alleged sexual abuse suspects from March 1 to 8, mostly in Luzon, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, of the total arrests, 29 suspects were apprehended in Luzon, 12 in the Visayas, and 19 in Mindanao. Among those arrested, 32 are facing non-bailable offenses, while 26 were identified as Regional Most Wanted Persons.

The CIDG reported that the suspects are facing charges that include rape, statutory rape, qualified rape of a minor, lascivious conduct, and violations of the Anti-Child Abuse Law and the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.

"Women and children deserve justice, and today we are making sure they get it," Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated. He emphasized that the operations are a testament to the PNP's dedication to safeguarding women and children, ensuring justice is served, and bolstering public trust through its focused agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations.
