Wet Wednesday Forecast for Parts of the Philippines Due to Easterlies

Manila: Parts of the country will experience rains due to the prevailing easterlies, the weather bureau said on Wednesday. Scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecast in the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Aurora, and Quezon.

According to Philippines News Agency, moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. The easterlies will also cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas continue to prevail across the archipelago, PAGASA said. Meanwhile, the low pressure area, last tracked 1,080 km east of southeastern Luzon, has a high potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Earlier, PAGASA Administrator Nathaniel Servando said the possible tropical depression is expected to bring rains across Northern Luzon by Friday. It will be named Paolo.
