Zamboanga city: The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office here raised its alert level to blue for the holiday season starting Monday. CDRRMO chief Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario said Tuesday the status means officials and personnel are on standby for potential emergencies from Dec. 22 until Jan. 5, 2026.
According to Philippines News Agency, the agency's operations center will conduct heightened monitoring and coordinate closely with other agencies and uniformed services. Apolinario advised barangay disaster councils to assist in community monitoring and urged residents to unplug Christmas decorations when leaving home. He likewise advised residents to disconnect or shut down all electrical Christmas decorations when everyone goes out to visit families and friends.
