Boracay: The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) is set to deploy 1,500 personnel to ensure the security of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Senior Officials' Meeting (ASEAN SEOM) Retreat scheduled for December 10-13 in Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.

According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-6 director Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan announced during a media briefing that security will be provided for approximately 200 delegates as well as tourists visiting the island. Ligan emphasized that Boracay Island's isolated nature makes it easier to secure, with coordination from the Philippine Coast Guard and the Maritime Police, who will oversee the shoreline.

Ligan confirmed that no areas in Boracay have been isolated for the event, and the island will remain accessible to guests and visitors. Of the 1,500 police personnel, 500 will be drawn from other provinces in Western Visayas, while the remaining officers will be based in Aklan.

The police will establish a multi-agency coordinating center on the island, and a send-off ceremony for the security personnel is planned at the Aklan Police Provincial Office on December 7.
