10 Metro Manila Roads Experience Flooding Due to ‘Habagat’

Manila: Ten road sections across Manila, Valenzuela, and Malabon were reported to be experiencing light to moderate flooding on Saturday due to the effects of the southwest monsoon, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - National Capital Region (NCR) said in an advisory.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DPWH-NCR's 2 p.m. situational report indicated that all affected roads remain passable to all types of vehicles despite flood depths ranging from 5 cm to 10 cm.

In Manila, the flooded roads include parts of Roxas Boulevard (southbound near Pedro Gil Street), Taft Avenue (northbound near Pedro Gil and UN Avenue), and TM Kalaw Avenue (westbound).

In Valenzuela City, lightly flooded areas include sections of MacArthur Highway, C. Santiago Street, G. Lazaro Street, and Gov. T. Santiago Street, as well as portions of Gov. W. Pascual Avenue from Valdez Street to Sitio 6.

Meanwhile, in Malabon City, light flooding was observed along C. Arellano Street, from Paez Street to Sacrista Street.

The DPWH-NCR has deployed a maintenance crew to monitor road conditions and conduct declogging and clearing operations.

Motorists were urged to exercise caution while driving in affected areas, especially during continuous rain.
