Manila: The Police Regional Office in Bicol has been bolstered with the addition of 20 motorcycle emergency response units, provided by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). This initiative, unveiled on Monday, aims to enhance the mobility and emergency response capabilities of police units across the region.
According to Philippines News Agency, the delivery of the motorcycles was overseen by DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla, alongside Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., during a ceremony at Camp Brig. Gen. Simeon Ola. These new mobility assets are expected to significantly boost the region's unified 911 emergency response operations, especially in critical areas needing rapid deployment and maneuverability.
The motorcycles were officially handed over to Albay Governor Noel E. Rosal and Camarines Sur Governor Luis Raymund Villafuerte. The units are intended to assist personnel in navigating traffic, reaching remote areas, and providing aid to motorists and the public during emergencies. In his remarks, Remulla highlighted this initiative as a part of broader efforts to improve law and order while fostering coordination among personnel for a safer Philippines.
Remulla emphasized the government's commitment to prioritizing peace and order, enhancing camaraderie among uniformed personnel, and addressing public safety issues. He stated, "Whether we are allies or adversaries, if it is for the betterment of the Philippines and to set an example, we must move forward. The Philippines will be moving forward, and today, we are moving forward."
Albay Governor Noel Rosal also commented on the significance of this turnover, noting its role in bringing government programs and services closer to the populace. He asserted, "This is about governance; this is about bringing government closer to the people. Our programs must truly be seen and felt by the people." Rosal further expressed his support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s administration, calling for regional officials to collaborate in ensuring government initiatives meet community needs effectively.
