Manila: Thirty-one most wanted persons (MWPs) were nabbed in 24-hour operations, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said over the weekend.
According to Philippines News Agency, the PNP reported that the operations commenced at 8 a.m. on May 1 across multiple regions, including Metro Manila, Ilocos, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga. These operations were conducted in tandem with duties related to Labor Day events.
The arrested individuals included those with pending warrants for serious offenses such as rape, murder, sexual assault, trafficking in persons, syndicated estafa, carnapping, robbery with homicide, and illegal drug-related charges.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. highlighted that the successful operations demonstrate the PNP's commitment to maintaining law enforcement activities, even during times of full deployment. "Habang naka-focus tayo sa Labor Day security, tuloy ang paghahabol natin sa mga wanted person. Hindi humihinto ang serbisyo ng PNP (While we focused on Labor Day security yesterday, our pursuit of wanted persons continues. PNP service continues)," he stated.
The PNP operations align with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive aimed at strengthening peace and order while ensuring that policing remains lawful and rights-based.
