Tarlac: The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has announced plans to deliver a total of 57.18 kilometers of road networks in New Clark City (NCC) by the end of the year. According to BCDA, this development will cover 40 percent of the planned 148.44-kilometer road network throughout the city.
According to Philippine News Agency, The government-owned and controlled corporation is actively working on the NCC Connecting Road Package 2, which spans a total length of 15.7 kilometers. This package will traverse NCC's industrial area, the Virology and Vaccine Institute of the Philippines, and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas complex.
In November last year, BCDA completed 41.48 kilometers of roadways, including a 12-kilometer access road from NCC to the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway and the 19.8-kilometer One Clark Boulevard linking NCC to the Clark International Airport in Pampanga.
BCDA president and chief executive officer Joshua Bingcang emphasized the importance of connectivity for attracting investors, noting that Clark's own international airport, nearby seaport, and major expressways enhance its appeal. He further highlighted the need for continued investment in infrastructure to bolster New Clark City's competitiveness as a premier investment hub.
The BCDA is set to open procurement for additional road packages, specifically packages 3 and 4, which will have lengths of 7.5 and 6.7 kilometers, respectively. The agency will also initiate bidding for connecting roads for NCC's sports complex, residential area, and river park.
A 72.26-kilometer road network is also in the planning stages, the BCDA stated. The projects aim to include bicycle and pedestrian lanes, solar street lights, linear parks, as well as drainage and slope protection structures.
