Rodriguez replaced Lt. Gen. Michael John Dubria, who reached the mandatory retirement age of 56 on Dec. 20, 2024.
According to Philippines News Agency, Brigadier Generals Jericho Baldeo, Christopher Abrahano, and Christopher Abecia were named officers-in-charge of the Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management, Police Regional Office (PRO) - Caraga, and Aviation Security Group, respectively. Brigadier Generals Roy Parena and Dionisio Bartolome Jr. and Col. Mariano Rodriguez were also designated as Acting Deputy Director for Police Community Relations, deputy Director for Administration of PRO-Central Visayas, and Deputy Director for Administration of PRO-Davao, respectively.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil urged police officers to remain steadfast in their sworn duty to act fairly and uphold their dignity as law enforcers. "Our dignity as police officers is one of our most valuable assets. Let us not allow anyone to take it from us for no one has the right to do so. We must protect our integrity and never allow it to be compromised by temptation or undue influence. Our dignity forms the very foundation of the trust the public places in us," Marbil said in his speech during the flag-raising rites.
He further emphasized the importance of improving service as the year begins. "Let us give them the best public service. Let us continue to work together, united in our mission toward the realization of a Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines), a nation where every police officer stands as a symbol of hope, peace, and justice," Marbil concluded.
