Manila: Government agencies in Northern Mindanao on Monday issued a landslide and flooding advisory for 98 locations in the region in anticipation of the rainy season.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 10 stated that these locations are mostly in the provinces of Bukidnon and Misamis Occidental. Each location was identified as having a moderate to high risk for both landslides and flooding.
The DENR-10 urged residents to report any signs of landslides and flooding to local authorities and to monitor official advisories. Meanwhile, the Office of Civil Defense-10 (OCD-10) conducted an inspection following the aftermath of a flooding incident on August 31 in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, which affected 2,361 families, or approximately 7,654 people.
OCD-10 also distributed a thunderstorm warning from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) for the upcoming weather, alerting local disaster risk reduction management offices to prepare.
