Manila: The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Monday warned the public against phishing scams that involve emails using the email display name 'philsys.gov.ph' and house-to-house visits by persons or groups claiming to be from the agency.
According to Philippines News Agency, the PSA highlighted that these scammers are targeting personal information by posing as PSA employees. They offer assistance in updating National ID registrations through a Google form sent via email. Additionally, some individuals impersonating National ID personnel conduct house-to-house visits, asking to take photos of government-issued IDs in exchange for cash.
The PSA emphasized that these activities are not authorized by the agency. The PSA clarified that updating services for the National ID are conducted only in select National ID registration centers during office hours. Individuals seeking to update their information must visit these centers personally with their supporting documents and are not required to complete any online forms.
The PSA further reminded the public that it does not distribute cash assistance to National ID holders, nor does it collect data and photos in exchange for cash. The agency strongly urged the public to exercise caution and vigilance, as such unauthorized activities could compromise privacy and security.
