Air Force Chopper Airlifts 5-Year-Old Patient Needing Medical Care

Masbate: A Philippine Air Force Tactical Operation Group 5 helicopter on Tuesday airlifted a five-year-old girl from Masbate province to the Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center (BRHMC) for emergency medical treatment.

According to Philippines News Agency, BRHMC director Dr. Eric Roborar stated that the patient underwent a CT scan immediately upon arrival at the hospital. The scan revealed that the child has a left and right brain hematoma. Dr. Roborar emphasized the importance of the early medical intervention in assessing the patient's condition, which allows for a clear management plan.

The child will continue to be observed and will undergo another examination. Dr. Roborar explained that the test would be repeated to monitor changes in the hematoma. If the condition stabilizes, further intervention may not be necessary. However, if the situation worsens, the medical team will be prepared to address the issue.

In addition to the young girl, another patient is slated for airlift-a pregnant woman with a spinal cord injury. Dr. Roborar expressed gratitude towards the PAF-TOG for their assistance in transporting patients requiring urgent medical care.

The Philippine Air Force is engaged in humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations in Masbate following Severe Tropical Storm Opong, internationally known as Bualoi.
