Antique: The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) has advised residents of Antique to eliminate mosquito breeding sites in an effort to prevent a further increase in dengue cases.
According to Philippines News Agency, IPHO Information Officer Irene Duldoco revealed in an interview on Tuesday that the province has recorded 2,842 dengue cases and five deaths from January 1 to July 14. In response, the Municipality of San Jose de Buenavista, the capital town of Antique, is conducting mobile announcements to encourage residents to participate in mitigating the spread of dengue.
San Jose de Buenavista has intensified its efforts to disseminate information about the Department of Health's 4S strategy. This strategy emphasizes searching for and destroying mosquito breeding places as a primary measure. Residents are being urged to trim shrubs, which are known mosquito breeding sites, as part of these efforts. Other components of the strategy include self-protection, seeking early consultation, and fogging.
Apart from San Jose de Buenavista, which has reported 337 cases, other municipalities with high dengue incidences include Sibalom with 289 cases, Hamtic with 251, Sebaste with 246, and Valderrama with 214. Dengue-related deaths have been reported in Sebaste, Valderrama, Tobias Fornier, Culasi, and Anini-y.
