Antique Records 21 Firecracker-Related Injuries

Antique: Firecracker-related injuries in Antique have reached 21 as of Monday, according to the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) here. IPHO Information Officer Irene Duldoco reported that the cases were treated in one private and eight district hospitals, based on their monitoring report since December 23, 2025.

According to Philippines News Agency, the last reported case involved an eight-year-old girl from the municipality of Bugasong. The minor sustained injuries on her left thigh, leg, and knees when she lit a whistle bomb on New Year's Day. The first reported case involved another minor from Culasi town who was injured by a boga, a homemade cannon.

Duldoco explained that nine of the 21 injured individuals are over 20 years old, with the oldest being 64, while the rest are minors. A total of 12 individuals below 20 years of age were injured by firecrackers. She advised Antique±os to seek immediate treatment for firecracker-related injuries, including receiving anti-tetanus shots.
