Antique: Work in provincial, municipal, and national government offices, as well as classes at all levels in Antique, are suspended on Friday in preparation for the impact of the typhoon-enhanced "habagat" or southwest monsoon. The suspension was mandated under Executive Order No. 212 issued by the provincial government on Thursday, following the recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) Council during their pre-disaster risk assessment in preparation for Super Typhoon Inday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the order stated, "Due to the heavy downpour brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon or 'habagat' and in anticipation and preparation of the potential impacts of Super Typhoon Inday, classes in all levels in the entire province of Antique and work in both provincial and municipal government and in all national government agencies and offices in all branches of government within the province of Antique is suspended on July 10, 2026."
Private agencies, non-government organizations, and other institutions are encouraged to suspend work at their discretion to ensure public safety. Meanwhile, officials of the 590 villages in Antique have been instructed to open their barangay halls to accommodate evacuees due to flooding amid moderate to heavy rains in the province.
Monitoring by the PDRRM office indicates a rise in the water level at the Sibalom River delta and estuary. The river traverses five municipalities from San Remigio to Patnongon. PDRRM Officer Broderick Train stated that they are also closely monitoring coastal areas for possible storm surges that could pose imminent danger to residents if not evacuated.
"We are hopeful that there will be zero casualties due to the enhanced southwest monsoon, thus, there would be a need for preemptive evacuation," Train said. He added that villages should activate their DRRM Council to initially take care of the evacuees.
