Army Signal Regiment Directed to Strengthen Cyber Defense Capabilities

Manila: Philippine Army (PA) commander Lt. Gen. Roy Galido has urged the Army Signal Regiment (ASR) to continue enhancing its abilities to protect the country's cyberspace from various threats. Galido's call to action coincided with the ASR's 14th-anniversary celebration, as noted by PA spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala in a news release.

According to Philippines News Agency, Galido emphasized the importance of "Communication. Connectivity. Cybersecurity" as the cornerstones of ASR's commitment to the PA. He highlighted the regiment's progress and significant contributions to the operational effectiveness of the entire force over the past 14 years. In the context of rapid technological advancements and evolving cyber threats, Galido pointed out that the ASR plays a critical role in protecting and safeguarding the country's cyber domain.

Galido has previously prioritized deploying secure, jamming-resistant, resilient, and redundant communications and cybersecurity systems as part of efforts to enhance the PA's communication security. He commended the ASR for being at the forefront of digital defense, ensuring the integrity of the cyber domain by safeguarding networks and protecting critical information.

Additionally, Galido praised the ASR for its reliable signal services, which form the backbone of military operations. He noted that these communication capabilities provide commanders with essential command and control functions and ensure comprehensive situational awareness across the battlefield.
