Baguio city: Baguio City has been allotted the largest share of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) - Cordillera's PHP115,137,729 scholarship fund for 2026, receiving PHP54,279,398, or 47.14 percent, of the regional allocation, the agency said Thursday. The city has 1,575 scholarship slots under programs including the Training for Work Scholarship Program, Tulong Trabaho Scholarship Program, Private Education Student Financial Assistance, Special Training for Employment Program, and Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.

According to Philippines News Agency, Glenn Murphy, OIC director of TESDA-Cordillera, stated that Baguio serves as a major hub for TVET in the region, hosting 57 of the region's 88 Technical Vocational Institutions and 14 of its 29 assessment centers. Currently, Baguio has 967 enrolled scholars, with 49 graduates, 24 assessed scholars, and 18 certified scholars. Murphy emphasized the importance of integrating technical vocational education programs with dedicated budget allocations into the city's development plans to ensure alignment with local priorities.

Murphy also requested support from the city government for a planned TESDA regional training center in Baguio and additional funds for scholarship programs and training. The TESDA Online Program and various Community-Based Training Programs are available under the Seal of Good Local Governance. Mayor Benjamin Magalong had earlier requested TESDA to provide program information to relay to constituents. TESDA is mandated to promote and strengthen the quality of technical education and skills development programs to meet the changing demands for quality middle-level manpower.
