BARMM Provides Housing Units to Indigent Families in Maguindanao Sur

Zambales: Maguindanao Sur Fifty indigent families in Barangay Katil, Datu Paglas, Maguindanao del Sur, have officially received housing units from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) through its "Kapayapaan sa Pamayanan" (KAPYANAN) program.

According to Philippines News Agency, the housing units were handed over on May 18, marking a significant milestone for the beneficiaries. Among them, a beneficiary known as "Babo" shared her joy, describing the experience as a dream realized with the receipt of her own home.

During the turnover ceremony, BARMM Assistant Senior Minister and KAPYANAN project manager Abdullah M. Cusain highlighted the features of the housing units, which are equipped with solar-powered lights, water systems, solar street lights, and concrete-lined canals. He noted that the houses are designed to endure strong winds and typhoons.

Additionally, KAPYANAN Project Development Officer Fatima Mohammad-Malang introduced a handbook and operations manual to assist beneficiaries with maintenance and emergency preparedness. Cusain acknowledged the support of former BARMM chief minister Murad Ebrahim and current Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua in advancing housing projects throughout the Bangsamoro region.

Since its inception in 2020, the program has reportedly delivered nearly 3,000 housing units across the mainland and island provinces of BARMM. Datu Paglas Mayor Datu Ibrahim P. Paglas IV expressed gratitude to the BARMM government for choosing the municipality as a project site.

KAPYANAN legal officer Norjanna T. Lacoto urged the beneficiaries to take care of their new homes, viewing them as "a new beginning" for their families.
