BCDA Secures Over 100 Residential Lease Agreements at Camp John Hay

Baguio City: More than 100 residential lease agreements in Camp John Hay (CJH) were signed by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), two months since it reclaimed the property. In a statement Tuesday, the BCDA said this represents 95 percent of the total residential properties within CJH.

According to Philippines News Agency, the BCDA targets to finalize and sign all residential lease contracts within the month. This development underscores the confidence of investors in the state-run organization's vision for the CJH property, it said.

The BCDA added that these residential lease agreements were signed with foreign nationals, the majority of whom are Koreans, which mirrors the growing trust and confidence from the public and investors in BCDA's expertise and track record.

'We are thrilled by the investors' overwhelming support, trust, and recognition of BCDA's transformative power of repurposing state lands into spaces that fuel the nation's progress,' BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua Bingcang said. 'Our promise is that as we redevelop Camp John Hay, we will make sure that people and the planet are at the heart and center of our projects.'

Meanwhile, the BCDA signed more than PHP1 billion since it recovered the Camp John Hay property on Jan. 6, 2025, from CJH Development Corp. as the Supreme Court released a ruling in favor of the government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCC).

According to BCDA, some of the major industry players and small and medium enterprises that are investing in Camp John Hay are Metro Pacific Investments Corp. subsidiary Landco Pacific Corp., Stern Real Estate Development Corp., Amare La Cucina, Golfplus Management, Inc., DuckWorld Philippines, and Top Taste Trading, Inc.

The BCDA is coordinating with the Baguio City local government to improve jogging trails and pedestrian lanes, install solar street lights, and develop a smart transport system.
