Romblon: The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Mimaropa continues to support the reintegration of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) with its After Care Program, providing opportunities for former inmates to rebuild their lives after release.

According to Philippines News Agency, Senior Jail Officer 1 Napoleon Mesana Jr. recently assisted a released PDL by providing a rent-to-own tricycle, offering not only a source of livelihood but also a renewed sense of dignity and hope.

The initiative aims to help former PDLs support their families, regain self-confidence, and reintegrate as responsible members of the community. BJMP Mimaropa spokesperson Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo highlighted the significance of the program on Tuesday.

"This simple act goes beyond providing livelihood-it restores hope and dignity. At BJMP, we believe that every person deserves a second chance. Our role doesn't end at the jail gate; we walk with former PDLs as they rebuild their lives, regain confidence, and find their place again in society," Anglo said in a news release.

The After Care Program is part of BJMP's broader mandate to guide, empower, and uplift individuals even after they have completed their sentences. Through initiatives like this, the Bureau reinforces its commitment to second chances, reduces recidivism, and strengthens community partnerships.

For the beneficiary in Romblon, the tricycle represents more than a livelihood-it is a symbol of hope and a tangible step toward a productive future.
