BJMP Mimaropa Implements Heightened Alert for Holy Week

Mimaropa: To ensure the safety and orderliness of its facilities during the Holy Week, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Mimaropa has placed all 19 district, city, and municipal jails in the region on heightened alert status. Regional information officer Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo stated that the heightened alert status aims to preempt any untoward incidents during the Holy Week observance.

According to Philippines News Agency, Anglo mentioned that they anticipate an influx of visitors and increased participation of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in Lent-related activities. To ensure the safety and security of all facilities, Anglo asserted that the leave privileges of the 630 BJMP personnel assigned across the region have been canceled.

BJMP officials will conduct inspections to assess the operational readiness of personnel and hold dialogues with field staff regarding their programs. Meanwhile, BJMP Mimaropa director Jail Senior Supt. Clarence Mayangao directed all jail personnel to supervise their jurisdictions closely, accommodate visitors, and prevent any untoward incidents. He emphasized the need for vigilance in guarding PDLs to ensure their safety and security.

The red alert status will be in effect on April 17 and 18, while the blue alert status will be active on April 14, 15, 16, 19, and 20. The public is encouraged to cooperate with authorities and follow safety protocols to ensure a peaceful and meaningful Holy Week observance.
