Manila: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has announced the launch of 'Isumbong kay Commissioner,' an official online platform aimed at improving the way public complaints and concerns related to customs services and operations are handled. This initiative marks a significant step towards streamlining, expediting, and enhancing transparency within the agency.
According to Philippines News Agency, Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno stated that the platform is inspired by the Office of the President's 'Isumbong sa Pangulo,' highlighting the Commissioner's dedication to bolstering public accountability and fostering direct communication channels with stakeholders. This digital shift will replace the existing BOC complaints email, offering a more efficient and centralized system.
The BOC chief emphasized that the transition from the traditional email-based process to 'Isumbong kay Commissioner' represents a major upgrade. The new platform allows complainants to file reports more efficiently and track their status and progress in real time. This system aims to eliminate manual sorting, reduce delays, and ensure accountability, providing the public with transparency in how their concerns are addressed.
All complaints submitted through the platform will be automatically forwarded to the Office of the Commissioner, ensuring prompt evaluation and action at the highest level. Commissioner Nepomuceno underscored the importance of this initiative in promoting transparency and public trust, stating that the Bureau of Customs is committed to clear, fast, and honest communication with the public.
Currently, the system is in the final testing phase, with plans for user training to ensure that authorized personnel are prepared to handle reports effectively. As the platform nears full activation, the bureau urges the public to submit only verifiable, complete, and actionable complaints for efficient processing.
The system's development was led by the Management Information Systems and Technology Group (MISTG), under Deputy Commissioner Revsee Escobedo, with the Systems Development Division headed by Liberty Plana. The team has ensured that the platform is secure, user-friendly, and aligns with the BOC's digitalization goals.
