CAAP Enhances Airport Connectivity Through Partnership with PLDT

Manila: The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has entered into a strategic partnership with PLDT Enterprise, aiming to enhance connectivity across its airports and facilities. This collaboration seeks to improve the digital infrastructure in 14 out of the 44 airports managed by CAAP, as well as other critical aviation facilities.

According to Philippines News Agency, CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio disclosed that the agreement will see improvements in digital infrastructure at several key locations, including the Civil Aviation Training Center and the Philippine Air Traffic Management Center in Pasay City. The initiative is designed to not only upgrade Internet access but also to refine the overall travel experience at various airports, including those in Tuguegarao, Bicol, Puerto Princesa, Laoag, Bacolod, Silay, Tacloban, Kalibo, Zamboanga, Davao, General Santos, Laguindingan, and Pagadian.

PLDT and Smart's head of Enterprise Business Group, Blums Pineda, emphasized that the commitment is centered on delivering reliable, secure, and efficient digital infrastructure to align with CAAP's vision of achieving excellence in civil aviation. The partnership is expected to facilitate seamless connectivity, thereby ensuring safe and efficient operations in these airports.

PLDT Enterprise has outlined plans to provide a uniform, dedicated Internet access via a fiber optic network, along with structured connectivity across CAAP-run airports and facilities. This will include the installation of network distribution equipment and cable infrastructure. Additionally, a unified front-end tool will be developed to aid end-users in connecting to the service.

CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario highlighted the importance of strengthening digital infrastructure as a means to enhance operational efficiency and elevate passenger experience to meet global standards. The partnership is seen as pivotal in equipping the airports to handle increasing passenger traffic and operational demands effectively.
