Camiguin: Several local government units (LGUs) in Northern Mindanao have suspended classes Friday, in anticipation of Tropical Storm Crising. Authorities are also preparing relief supplies and deploying rescue personnel.
According to Philippines News Agency, in Camiguin province, all five municipalities have suspended classes at all levels. In Camiguin's Catarman town, Mayor Kiterio Palarca II issued an order citing potential flooding and landslide risks from heavy rains. "To maintain peace and order, promote the safety of the students, and give their parents sufficient time to fully prepare for the weather disturbances," Palarca said in an interview.
In Misamis Oriental, at least eight LGUs have also suspended classes, while the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Council has placed its rescue personnel on standby. The Office of Civil Defense-10 (Northern Mindanao) has coordinated with the LGUs' own DRRM units to enable faster response and backup measures.
Additionally, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-10 said it has prepared buffer stocks of relief goods in case of resident displacement.
