Caraga: The Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) is mourning the loss of a police officer who died weeks after being electrocuted while serving a search warrant. Pat. Jankent Tuazon of the 1301st Maneuver Company under the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13 was part of a team tasked to implement a search warrant on July 25 in Barobo, Surigao del Sur. The warrant was for a violation of the provisions of Republic Act (RA) 10591, or the illegal possession of firearms.

According to Philippines News Agency, when the police officers arrived, the subject of the warrant intentionally activated an electric fence system that electrocuted Tuazon. 'Tuazon was rushed to a medical facility for treatment in the area and was transferred to a hospital in Butuan City,' Maj. Jennifer Omiter, the PRO-13's information office chief, said in an interview.

Unfortunately, after weeks of fighting for his life, Tuazon died on August 10. Omiter said the suspect was subsequently arrested, and an additional criminal case was filed in connection with the incident.

On Thursday morning, PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV visited Tuazon's wake in Loreto, Agusan del Sur. 'His untimely passing leaves a profound void not only within his bereaved family but also in the hearts of all who had the honor of serving alongside him,' Magistrado said.

As one unit, the PRO-13 also issued a statement Thursday, saying: 'We stand in solidarity with his family in this time of sorrow and assure them of our full support. His gallantry continues to inspire us to serve and protect at all costs.'
