BUTUAN CITY: Cities and towns across the Caraga Region have commenced operations for the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS), facilitating business renewals and registrations for the 2025 transaction period. This initiative aims to enhance public convenience in engaging with government services.
According to Philippines News Agency, the City Business Permits and Licensing Department (CBPLD) in Butuan City has set up a dedicated area within Robinsons Place to expedite the processing of business renewals and permits through BOSS. This streamlined service will be available until January 31, 2025, and the city government is encouraging business owners to utilize BOSS for their transactions at Robinsons Place.
In support of this initiative, staff from various departments and relevant government agencies are present to assist individuals with their renewals and licensing processes. City government data reveals that the number of registered business permits in Butuan City has steadily increased over the past few years. In 2020, there were 12,971 business permits registered, rising to 13,357 in 2021, 14,504 in 2022, 16,413 in 2023, and reaching 17,994 by November 2024.
Ordinance 7160-2024 in Butuan City provides that business permits can be renewed and business taxes and fees paid without penalties until March 31. Other cities and municipalities in the Caraga Region have also initiated their respective BOSS activities.
The BOSS initiative is in line with Republic Act 11032, commonly known as the Ease of Doing Business Law, which aims to deliver quality services to the public by minimizing costs and reducing bureaucratic hurdles. The program seeks to streamline business registration and compliance procedures across the region.
